Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Carter of Fairview Heights Il

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Carter

Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Los Angeles California and I moved to the Midwest in 2019. I began doing my own nails as a young teen because when I would go to the nail salon no one could seem to do the art and designs I wanted. So I started doing my own nail art on myself and some friends. Then my grandma told me that I had a talent and that this is what I should do so she sent me to cosmetology school and now I’m living out this wild dream of creating art while meeting some great people along the way whom I loving call my nail besties.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has most certainly not been easy especially moving to a completely new state in the mist of a global pandemic where my profession is literally close contact with people. Amongst building up a new clientele and finding the right space for my style of nails in this new space has been quite the challenge. I’ve worked out of my house, did some house calls to working in spaces that did not serve my talents well but I believe that all of these obstacles have been necessary for my journey because I’ve made some life long connections through nails and its truly a blessing.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Professionally I am a licensed nail technician but I like to think I am an artist that is pretty good at doing nails. I specialize in hard gel, gel and nail art. I am know for my appreciation for nail health as well as my art because I love nails and I want people to love their nails as much as I do so I believe that starts with the proper foundation then the beauty of the polish. I am most proud of how far nails have come over the years not just my own skills and talents but in general the nail industry has grown tremendously and to me I am just happy to be apart of this ever growing community of nail artist. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to create the art my nail besties bring to me and see the joy on their face when they get exactly what they came for.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing the joy on someone’s face after they get their nails done the way they want them. That alone brings me so much joy that I would offer services for free if I could.
