Today we’d like to introduce you to Ke’ira Lewis.
Hi Ke’ira, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
To tell my story is to go back in time throughout my life; sharing the fact that I’ve been singing since I could understand words, grew up before my time (as the elders would say) due to being raised by a single mother, which in turn cultivated my leadership skills, and have ALWAYS enjoyed making people smile through special events honoring them.
I am Ke’Ira (that’s I, not an L) Lewis, owner/planner of Etc. Event Planning & Marketing LLC, owner, recording artist, songwriter, and stage writer of KDL Produktionz LLC, as well as the founder of We Rise by Design: Women Entrepreneurs Business Club. After decades of tests, trials, and errors from working within industries that were not for/of me, I am proud to be in the number of those who have taken their passions, implementing them as their career.
I do however, credit the retail and banking industries for every piece of experience acquired, as they have allowed me the opportunity to offer the customer service experience that I intentionally strive to provide to my clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I consistently express to those who are either starting a new business, have been at it for a few years, or may need continual encouragement, that business ownership isn’t for the weak-hearted.
The road won’t always be smooth, but if we as business owners rely on the ounce of faith that pushed us out there from the get-go, we’ll withstand every test. My biggest challenge faced is the continual gain of a following. For most business owners, community support comes easy, due to the fact that they (the business owner) are the neighborhood; they’re typically from the area.
This challenge pushes me to take my marketing to the next level, ensuring that I am taking advantage of every growth opportunity that will further enhance my product and service.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Through Etc. Event Planning & Marketing LLC, I offer creative event planning services for all age groups and event categories, makeup services for individuals or groups, musical services for private or public affairs, as well as social media marketing and photography branding for professionals.
I am also a local recording artist, with a worldwide musical mentality. My music brings listeners back to 90s R&B; a moment when lyrics encompassed heart, soul, flava, and originality. Through my company KDL Produktionz, I not only write music but also stage productions that incorporate said music, poetry, dance, and most importantly, acting that will take the audience through every emotion possible.
Because I believe that it takes a village for anything to grow, I founded an organization for women in business, by the name of We Rise by Design: Women Entrepreneurs; promoting entrepreneurial growth, sisterhood, and connectivity.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned as an entrepreneur, is that whoever’s meant to support me, will show up… that’s it; that’s all.
