Rising Stars: Meet Kiana Renee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiana Renee. 

Hi Kiana Renee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started off just doing my own makeup back when it really wasn’t that big of a deal to have your makeup done. My friends started to ask me to do theirs and even though I had no idea what I was doing, I would. I watched a few YouTube videos and made it happen. 

It was brought to my attention that I could start making an income applying makeup so with the help of someone close to me, I created a brand and literally just did it. Of course, you struggle with the ups and downs of trying to run a business, but this was it for me. Nothing else I had tried to do on my road of finding myself and passion, made me happy. I had found “my thing” and wanted to make as much out of it as I could. 

I get a crazy high off enhancing a woman’s beauty and making her day. As women, we deal with a lot on a daily so to be a positive, refreshing addition to a person’s day and make them feel better leaving than they did before they sat in my chair is EVERYTHING to me! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think running any business is “smooth”. Especially, when you deal with so many different people and personalities and the many things life, in general, could throw your way. I’ve struggled with not feeling adequate enough in my field and wanting to quit and find something else to do. Through it all though, you have to remember nothing worth having comes easy. Those days where you want to quit, you have to remember why you started and fight your way through. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional makeup artist. It doesn’t just stop at applying makeup though. I specialize in weddings, photoshoots, and everyday glam although I think most people know me for the way I execute a natural glam. It’s becoming “my thing”. 

When it comes to Life By Kiana Renee Makeup Artistry, I pride myself on giving women life, hence the name, and making them feel 10 times better than they did before we met. I love that I can be a source of encouragement and motivation to women. I believe what sets me apart from others is my ability to take something that so many other people are doing and do it on a different level. I’m always finding ways to put a different twist on SOMETHING. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t think luck, good or bad, has existed in this. I believe you make your own “luck” and opportunities. If you want something, you work hard and make it happen. It’s really that simple to me. Entrepreneurship is not for the weak. It takes a lot of focus and determination. With that being said. there are certain circumstances that have put me in a position where I didn’t know how I was going to pay my bills or make things happen, but I don’t even consider that bad luck. I take everything as a learning opportunity and a way to grow and be better.
