Rising Stars: Meet Shifted of St Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shifted.

Hi Shifted, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Shifted has been bringing their chaotic energy to St. Louis since the Spring of 2025; filling out rooms with tumultuous waves of amplifiers and cymbals while still being anchored in a melodic core structure. Front man Jared Gab has written both the music and lyrics and takes the stage as vocalist plus rhythm guitar. Alongside drummer Samaj Robinson , bassist Carlos Hernandez, and lead guitarist Dan Hagerty the four of them have come together serendipitously to fully materialize the vision Jared has for his songs. Shifted is currently in the process of recording their first album with local studio Midtown Sound House and plan to release it by this Fall .

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Our front man Jared honed his craft as a solo-acoustic artist, so while the shift to a full band was key in bringing his songs to life, it has also been a learning curve as we learn to work together to find our unique sound.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Our drummer Samaj always brings his A-game with high-energy, high-volume drum solos finishing off some of our signature songs like ” Numbered” and “Omens” . While we have a reputation for our loud sound, we can also shift gears from the classic 90s grunge tones (amplified by the effects of our lead guitarist Dan), to a slow, melodic rock ballad which can be heard in “Run”

What’s next?
In late July we’re back in the studio to polish up our first album, which we’re planning to release in the fall. In August, we have two local shows back-to-back at some of our favorite venues. First, on Friday August 14th we’re at CBGB (3163 S. Grand Blvd), then on Saturday the 15th we’re playing at The Heavy Anchor (5226 Gravois Ave) as part of a fundraiser show for ARTICA. We also have our first regional show scheduled on Saturday October 17th at Vintage Thrift Bar Gnarly Hussle in Kansas City, MO.
