Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Manno.
Tiffany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My interest in cosmetology started in elementary school. My mom used to give me different hairstyles before going to school and I would get hair accessories and lipgloss from my aunt.
In high school, I went to a tech program for dentistry but you would find me styling hair or doing someone’s makeup in the X-Ray room. I continued that program to the finish and after a few internships and college classes, it was pretty clear it was not for me. I enrolled in Paul Mitchell during my sophomore year of college. I took the leap hoping for the best and got it! Networking was easy there and I learned so much.
I worked at a full-service salon immediately after I graduated. I learned to style more intensively through them and did makeup applications whenever it was needed. I left 3 years later and worked at a salon and spa for children. I came to the realization I loved blowouts, styling, and makeup applications.
I left and worked at a blowout bar and became more involved with styling hair and with weddings. I fell in love with weddings. I’m so grateful to have had that experience. The rest was history!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to finding my niche was hard. I had no desire to do full service but during the time I joined the cosmetology industry that was highly encouraged. It was encouraged to do everything to have “more tools in your toolbox” or make more money. Being a yes man is exhausting.
It left me unhappy and anxious regardless of how well I was doing. Saying no to services that I did not enjoy doing definitely changed the game for me. It was much more rewarding to offer the services that I gravitated toward instead of being a jack of all trades. I’m happy to move forward from the insecurity of doing it differently.
Learning what made me excited took me further than doing things out of survival or relevancy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Tiffany Monique HMUA specializes in providing styles and makeup applications for bridal, special occasions, and every day.
What sets my company apart is the intention of doing life with people. Whether that’s going to work needing a style or getting married to the love of your life I’ll be there!
I’m proud of how confident people feel after each service. For example, I get the pleasure to see someone rock an interview or look amazing during a maternity shoot.
Any big plans?
I currently am looking forward to being more involved in the bridal industry in specific. I am investing in continuing my education in styling and working alongside some bridal teams!
My plans for the future are to have bridal teams across the United States. It would be a dream come true to be able to offer onsite elopement packages to brides.
