Rising Stars: Meet Todd Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Thomas.

Todd, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my DJ business, Porta Party DJs, in 1997 after leaving The Dirtwater Fox as their Entertainment Director. In 1998, I was hired as the In-Game MC for the St. Louis Cardinals, where I’m now known as “That One Guy.” I’ve been doing both for 25+ years. I love being able to entertain people and make them laugh.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Things were pretty smooth until Covid. 2020 was brutal because I make money five ways: weddings, private events, corporate events, bars/nightclubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, and NONE of ANY of that was happening for over six months. However, I made it out and am still in business. My #pivot in Covid was getting my real estate license.

And one of the biggest obstacles I’m dealing with right now is that my wife of 26 years has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She started chemo is late June, and we are seeing improvements every day in her health. It’s scary.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m everything entertainment. I am a professional emcee and DJ, and I’ve done lots of on-camera work and hosted many live events and TV shows. I’m most known for being “That One Guy” from the St. Louis Cardinals, and I have a 2011 World Series ring that I’m super proud of.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m going to be hosting a show called “Todd’s In My Kitchen” on the AHTV Network that is rolling out in the next month. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m really excited about it.
