Shannon Hagerty shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Shannon, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think a lot of people secretly struggle with the fact that they feel energy and intuition but don’t know how to talk about it or explore it. At the same time, we’ve been taught to define beauty as Botox, fillers and makeup when real radiance is energy, integrity and the inner knowing that we all have. Beauty lives inside and out. Makeup helps – but the real magic is within.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! I’m Shannon Hagerty, a makeup artist, intuitive coach and feng shui consultant who blends blends beauty and energy to help women feel radiant inside and out. My career started in luxury beauty and education. I now bring that experience and expertise to photo shoots, productions and intuitive offerings like angel card readings and retreats.
This year, I’ve been leaning into the next chapter of my business – focusing on intuitive beauty, planning a women’s retreat in Sedona and exploring more camera work – in front of and behind the scenes. At the heart of it, everything I do is about helping people step into their most confident, aligned and magnetic selves.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I needed to be perfect at everything. I no longer believe that and am grateful I don’t. Perfection sneaks up on me from time to time, but I have learned to let a lot of that go. Being in the beauty industry with a perfectionism background can prove difficult at times, but learning to let it go has served me well.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Having children has taught me two things about giving up: first, I can never truly give up. And second, there are always options to giving up – like pivoting, changing perspective and even reinventing the path forward. On one hand, my children are the reason I could have chosen to give up, so I could focus only on them. Ironically, and more importantly, they are the reason I keep going.
I want to show them it’s ok to follow your dreams without having a traditional 40 hour work week. That belief has pushed me to continually evolve my business – whether it’s shifting how I offer my services, updating my pricing to reflect my value, or learning new techniques to expand what I provide. Every pivot has strengthened my resilience and taken my work to an entirely new place.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what matters most to me is my family, my health, and finding or creating joy wherever I go. They know how deeply I prioritize being present for my kids and husband while also taking care of my body and spirit. They might even tease me about being gluten-free and sober, but always from a loving place – and because they know it’s part of how I protect my energy and live in alignment. At the end of the day, they’d say I value beauty, creativity, and spreading joy everywhere I go.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me when I am gone is that I made them feel seen, beautiful and free to be themselves. That I lived with integrity, loved my family deeply, and showed my children that dreams are worth chasing. I hope they remember me as someone who redefined beauty – not just as surface level makeup, but as the energy, intuition and joy we radiate when we are aligned. More than anything, I’d want people to say that I brought light, love and a little bit of magic into their lives.
