We recently had the chance to connect with Chelsey Huff and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsey, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about my business is that wedding stationery is “just paper.”
People often assume it’s simply about printing invitations, but it’s so much more than that. What I do is a combination of design, branding, storytelling, logistics, and experience-building. Every piece, whether it’s an invitation suite, signage, or day-of details is intentionally crafted to set the tone for the entire event.
Another misconception is that semi-custom or custom stationery is out of reach. I’ve built my collections and processes to be both elevated and accessible, offering couples beautifully designed, cohesive pieces without the luxury price tag.
Overall, my business isn’t about selling paper products it’s about creating a seamless, meaningful, and memorable experience from the moment guests open their invitation to the last detail they see at the event.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Chelsey Huff, and I’m the owner and designer behind Chelsey Huff Design, a wedding and event stationery studio based in St. Louis. I’ve been designing for over a decade, and my background in branding shapes everything I create. I don’t just design pretty paper, I help couples and event hosts tell a cohesive visual story through their invitations, signage, and day-of details.
What makes my brand unique is the combination of intentional design, premium materials, and a client experience that’s both personal and seamless. Every piece, from a save-the-date to a welcome sign, is designed to feel elevated, cohesive, and reflective of the event’s personality. I’m also committed to making beautiful stationery accessible, which is why my packages balance customization with convenience and transparent pricing.
I’m currently excited about the newest addition to my business: our event packages, which simplify the planning process by offering tiered stationery bundles instead of à la carte pricing. These packages make it easier for couples to get everything they need. Coordinated, curated, and stress-free.
At its core, my work is about creating pieces that enhance the experience of a wedding or event and help my clients bring their vision to life in a thoughtful, meaningful way.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I wasn’t a good artist or creative, and that’s something I no longer carry with me. I grew up thinking creativity had to look a certain way, like drawing perfectly or being naturally gifted in a traditional “artistic” sense. It wasn’t until I got older, especially once I discovered design and branding, that I realized creativity shows up in so many different forms.
Today, design is not only my career but one of my biggest strengths. I’ve learned that creativity is something you develop, nurture, and express in your own way. That shift in belief has shaped my entire journey, it allowed me to build a business where my creative perspective is not only valued but essential.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self, “You are enough, and you are worth standing up for.”
So much of growing up was learning to trust my own voice, my creativity, and my worth. I’d remind her that she doesn’t need to shrink, soften, or second-guess who she is to make others comfortable. She deserves to take up space, to be heard, and to believe in herself, exactly as she is.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is absolutely the real me. I’m very much an open book, both in my business and my personal life. What you see is what you get, my personality, my style, my passion for what I do. I think being transparent and authentic helps me connect with clients on a deeper level. It allows them to trust me with such meaningful parts of their wedding or event, and it makes the entire experience more personal and enjoyable for both of us.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly believe I was born to do this. I’ve always loved helping people tell their stories and creating something meaningful along the way. This career allows me to do exactly that—I get to hear about the people I’m designing for, their hobbies, love stories, personalities, and translate all of that into beautiful, thoughtful stationery and event designs. It’s such a fulfilling way to combine creativity with connection, and it’s a joy to help clients see their story come to life in a tangible, lasting way.
