We recently had the chance to connect with Cole Adams and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cole, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Recently I had the privilege of having my silly banana song called,
‘Savannah Banana,’ played at a Banana Ball game in front of a 44k sold out stadium show. As a big fan, it was a surreal moment that carried lots of humor, as it happened all while wearing a banana costume.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Cole Adams.
I’m a singer, songwriter, entertainer and self proclaimed philosopher.
I’m a troubadour, originally from Saint Louis, Missouri. I’ve enjoyed playing my music out in the western U.S., along with the Midwest. Recently I dove into what’s being called, “the greatest show in sports,” Banana Ball, as a fan but also with my passion for songwriting. I created a 21 day TikTok challenge to see if I could get my original banana song played at a stadium game and it worked! What an amazing experience! I’m also releasing affirmation music now and enjoying trying new sounds and frequencies such as 432hz. Lots of new music on the horizon.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationships I had with my 2 grandmothers shaped me for the greatest good. One saw me for who I truly am before I had the capacity to, and the other taught me how to have healthy boundaries and to stand up for myself… “Not to take crap from anyone,” as she would say. Between the two women, I have felt a sense of empowerment that they’ve instilled in me, long after they’ve been gone.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I almost gave up on music in 2010 and went to culinary school… but one night I looked at myself in the mirror, wearing a chef coat, and KNEW I needed to go back to my calling as a singer-songwriter. I needed to leave the chef work to those called to it… not take it on out of “fear of not making it in music.”
Fear is false evidence appearing real.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire Jesse Cole, owner of the Savannah Bananas. His business motto is, “Fans First.” He’s built a multimillion dollar business without taking on major sponsorships. He knows how to make fans feel like family. I love how he preaches about how important it is to fail, to go big, to keep trying. Truly an inspiration to me.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think that most people will misunderstand that I’m a transgender male. I think this because I didn’t physically transition, so most people have no clue when they first encounter my music. I’m grateful to be out doing what I love, and I hope that my visibility can be of service to someone who needs encouragement when it comes to feeling safe to be themselves.
