Dasia Harris shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Dasia, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
On a normal day, I spend most of my time at home, focusing on rest and personal well-being. I enjoy a consistent self-care routine that includes self-affirmations and watching a daily biblical message, which helps keep me centered and reflective. I also spend time with my puppy, Apollo, which brings a lot of joy to my day. In my downtime, I’ll read a book or occasionally unwind by playing a video game.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi loves! 💕 My name is Dasia Harris, and I’m that rare kind of woman—sweet, strong, and a total fresh breath of air. I’m a model, author, and the proud CEO of Pretty Girl Das, my self-made brand created to celebrate and showcase all of my natural talents. My journey didn’t start on a runway—it started at home, where I grew up fast while caring for my mother during her illness and stroke, alongside helping raise my three younger siblings. That chapter shaped me into the young woman I am today: resilient, compassionate, and purpose-driven. Through it all, I was blessed with the opportunity to step into modeling and let my light shine. When I’m not creating, you’ll find me reading, writing, gaming, rewatching Yu-Gi-Oh!, or melting into my favorite Disney movies ✨ And now, I’m also a brand-new dog mom to my one-year-old husky-corgi mix, Apollo—my fluffy little sidekick. 🐾💖
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person who saw me clearly before I ever saw myself was my late great-grandmother, Pastor Nezzie Gandy. My granny had a way of looking at me like she already knew who I was becoming. She never let me forget it either—always encouraging me, praying over me, and speaking life into me when I couldn’t find the words for myself. Even though she’s been gone for four years now, her voice still walks with me. I hear it every time things get hard: “Dasia-er, God didn’t bring you this far to leave you, baby. You’re going to keep shining. That light of yours will outshine those who aren’t kind to you, and it will show the world why God chose you.” Because she saw my light so clearly, I’m still learning to stand in it—just like she always knew I would.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that held me back the most was comparison—measuring myself against people who didn’t truly want to see me succeed and dimming my own light because of it. For a long time, I let other people’s opinions dictate my choices, my confidence, and even my sense of worth. I was so afraid of being overlooked or not fitting in that I ended up overlooking myself. It wasn’t until I began to believe in who I am and recognize that I am worthy just as I am that things started to change. Learning to trust my own voice and allow myself to shine has been one of the most freeing and powerful moments of my life—and it reminded me that I was never meant to shrink to belong.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project I’m committed to, no matter how long it takes, is my debut novel, Perfect Illusion. It’s the story of my life — the journey that led me to modeling and the person I became along the way, as well as who I continued to grow into afterward. This book isn’t just about milestones or success; it’s about resilience, self-discovery, and learning to see myself clearly beyond appearances. I’m committed to telling this story honestly and thoughtfully, even if it takes years, because it represents my truth. I believe some stories need time, patience, and courage to be told the right way, and Perfect Illusion is one I will continue to nurture until it fully becomes what it’s meant to be.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in life’s quiet, simple moments. When I’m reading a good book, allowing myself to relax, and stepping away from the noise of the world, I feel grounded and calm. There’s also a deep sense of comfort that comes from completing my errands—knowing things are done, responsibilities are handled, and my mind can rest. Most of all, peace for me is being in a space free of negative energy, where I can breathe deeply, reflect, and simply exist without pressure. In those moments, I feel balanced, present, and truly at ease.
