Heather Albers shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Heather, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m a wanderer. I like to see where life takes me. I’ve found that not knowing the way everything will turn out allows me to experience things I might not have been able to otherwise. I want to enjoy the process.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Heather Albers, owner of NaturedSTL. I create framed works of art from your special bouquets. I work mostly with bridal bouquets, but also happy to help with memorial flowers, or any flowers that mean something special to you. I love a challenge, and trying new ideas so I’m always happy to work with you if you are looking for something different!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom. She always saw and applauded my individuality. She always said I was full of energy and creativity and encouraged me to look for a career a little off the beaten path. She was always my biggest supporter!
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of not being good enough. I struggled a lot in my 20s trying to find my spot in the world. I jumped from career path to career path but couldn’t ever seem to stick with one. I always felt like something was wrong with me because I couldn’t seem to figure myself out. Taking a chance with NaturedSTL was definitely scary at first, but has really built my confidence and makes me feel more complete.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My family. My husband and three boys mean the world to me. I’m the middle or three girls and am so grateful to have a close relationship with both of my sisters. I’m lucky enough to have a great relationship with my Dad as well.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Caring about what others think! And holding back. I’d take more chances and spend more time doing the things I enjoy. I’d worry less about the state or my house and the wrinkles on my skin. I’d make absolutely sure my loved ones know how much I love them.
