Kasandra Tinajero shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Kasandra, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
For years, I invested a lot of time online promoting my business, teaching Tarot, and working various events. However, since last year, I have drastically slowed down and have less of a social media presence. It has felt good to slow down. Most business owners would say this is a bad idea because your content is not always out there to remind people that you exist. Yes, there is truth in that. However, it has been good to spend the time I would have spent online doing things at home and in the outdoors (not to mention making progression on my TBR pile). I am tired of the numbers game, trying to increase the followers on my social media pages. Instead, I am more focused on time well spent and making authentic connections with others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the owner of Mountain Crow Tarot LLC. I am an intuitive Tarot reader who performs a variety of readings to help people gain insight and clarity. I perform readings online or in person (which is my favorite) in a public venue usually over a hot cup of coffee or tea! I love getting to know people over the beautiful imagery of the cards! I always remind people that although Tarot is an excellent tool for reflection, it will never replace medical or professional help.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
With everything going on in the world, I limit my time reading or watching the news or even checking out the status updates of people. What we see online can cause feelings of anger, sadness, and depression (especially with routine, repeated exposure). Instead, I would rather read my book, declutter my home, or take a walk outside instead of investing too much of my time on technology. Our time is limited. I believe it is important to be mindful how we spend it and who we spend it with.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her to not worry about doing all the things that society defines as being successful. Like I tell my kids, spend your life doing what you love for work. We work most of our lives so it is important to do work that gives your life meaning and is fulfilling, not necessarily the thing that pays the most money. As long as someone can have the money to pay the bills and eat, work that someone is passionate about is the way to go.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Those closest to me would say my family means the most to me. They would be 100% correct. My husband is awesome and I have two children who are almost grown and make me so proud! My children are my life’s greatest accomplishment. The world is better because they are in it. My marriage to my husband has helped me grow and heal in many ways. He is my rock and my constant.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I actually work full time in a school setting helping care for children with special needs. I find my work very meaningful and fulfilling. On a daily basis, the children overcome obstacles and inspire me. I look forward to going in to work to do my part to help them be successful with their endeavors.
