We recently had the chance to connect with Reese Bond and have shared our conversation below.
Reese, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of building the culture within my team that often goes unseen. On the outside, people see the finished results—beautiful hair, happy clients, successful launches—but what they don’t see is the intentional training, mentorship, and support I’ve built for my team behind the scenes. Creating a space where stylists feel valued, confident, and inspired is the foundation that allows everything else to shine. What makes me even prouder is that the way we’ve chosen to build our salon is starting to influence the industry as a whole—changing the standard for how stylists are supported and how salons can operate, not just locally but all over the world.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Salon Two One Zero came together by three friends who wanted to make a change in the midwest beauty industry. We wanted to create a space that anyone could walk into and feel the magic! A space for creative freedom and to know that anything is possible. Two One Zero is more than just a Salon, it’s a place in STL that brings worldwide techniques and culture to give our team and our guests the most sought after looks using the most current hair trends and techniques. We are here to change the the beauty world by making someone feel passion for themselves and know their true beauty within.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told us who we had to be, We were just curious, bold, and full of ideas. Somewhere along the way, We tried to shrink ourselves to fit expectations—but building our businesses and our team has allowed me to return to that original version of myself.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes—there were countless times I almost gave up. We were told ‘no’ over and over again, told to just become a rental salon, or written off as ‘just cute girls.’ People constantly judged us for how we look and assumed we didn’t know anything or couldn’t build something bigger. But instead of letting that stop me, I used it as fuel. Every ‘no’ pushed me to prove what was possible and to build something that changes the way our industry sees women and leaders.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of us is real—but it’s not the whole picture. What people see is the driven leader and business owner, and that’s true. But behind the scenes were also a moms, a wives, and women who have struggles and doubts just like anyone else. We’ve just learned to lead with the strongest parts of ourselves so that others can feel inspired.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that we changed lives forever. Not just by giving someone beautiful hair, but by giving them confidence, hope, and a sense of belonging. I hope people remember that we built more than a salon—we built opportunities for stylists to thrive, a culture that lifted people up, and a standard that changed the way our industry operates. Most of all, I hope they say I left people better than I found them, and that the ripple of what we created will keep impacting lives long after I’m gone.
