Story & Lesson Highlights with Ropa Sandiswa Nyakutya

Ropa Sandiswa Nyakutya shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Ropa Sandiswa, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Firstly that being a Christian Influencer is not a business (or trend) but a calling. Social media is merely a platform to share the gospel in different forms. Another misconception is that “Christian influencers have to be perfect”. That is wrong. Walking with Jesus involves a lot of refinement and we are all still learning how to do it. We will make mistakes but we learn and grew from them through God’s grace.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ropa Sandiswa Nyakutya Miss Africa USA 2025 finalist, community advocate, and content creator passionate about merging faith, science, and storytelling to empower young women. With a background in Chemistry, I’m driven by a vision to make a lasting difference — from the lab to the community.

Through my platform, I create faith-based lifestyle and beauty content that encourages authenticity and confidence while celebrating African heritage and womanhood. Beyond digital spaces, I’m leading initiatives that promote access and dignity for girls!

What makes my work unique is the way I bring together creativity, compassion, and innovation. I’m currently working on a project inspired by my mission to help girls feel confident and capable in every space they step into.

At the heart of everything I do is Jesus Christ — He fuels my purpose and reminds me that empowering one girl can transform an entire community.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Fear. It once held me back from fully showing up as myself, but I’ve learned to let it go. Stepping onto public stages and into the spotlight helped me overcome it. Each moment in front of an audience reminded me that confidence grows when you choose courage over fear.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self the words of 1 Timothy 4:12 — ‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.’ I’d remind her to embrace her differences, because the very things that make her stand out are what God will one day use to set her apart

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Modesty. As an African woman, modesty is deeply woven into our sense of respect — it’s how we honor ourselves, our families, and our communities. And as a Christian woman, I see modesty not just as a way of dressing, but as a reflection of the heart. It’s about carrying yourself with grace, humility, and a spirit that uplifts rather than distracts.

To me, modesty is strength under control — it’s knowing your worth without needing to prove it. Whether in how I speak, dress, or treat others, I strive to embody a gentle spirit and character that reflects both my faith and my cultural values. It’s something I protect at all costs, because it reminds me that true beauty shines brightest when rooted in purpose and respect.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop procrastinating and doubting myself. Life as an influencer is not perfect, same as a being a daughter of the Lord, I’ve realized that procrastination often comes from the fear of not achieving perfection — a fear that can quietly delay purpose. If I only had ten years left, I’d choose to move boldly, trusting that growth comes through action, not hesitation. I’d stop second-guessing my capabilities and step fully into the purpose God has already equipped me for
