We’re looking forward to introducing you to Spida Guru. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Spida, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
“Man thats a great question but I feel like if you are an close follower you’d understand what the first 90 minutes of my day looks like. Wake up, crank up. Of course taking care of my personal hygeine but no seriously I wake up and get the creative juices flowing as early as possible. I mean whats really better than seizing the day and knocking out some goals at the top of morning.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Spidaguru but the people know im a man of many aliases. I am make Crank. Crank is another term for music that I use to describe the sounds that I curate. I am also an clothing brand owner (PLAB) producing quality streetwear items for the cool kids. Everything that I do is unique because it comes directly from my mind and soul all the ideas are a direct reflection of my what goes inside of my head, especially the music. Im not neccesarily an writer so the thing that im going through in real time can be a direct reflection of that or just a fantasy in my head that has to come to life.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person that saw me as clear as day that I can still vividly remember is my Father. My dad has always pushed me to chase my dreams and be the person that I would idealize myself as. He would make the idea of things more realistic for me using his words of encourgaement or even sharing his own life experiences. My dad is like my mood board I been looking up to my dad and following his shadow for as long as I can remember. My dad also was the first person to get me in the studio my uncle owned a studio in our basement at the time I was 4 years old and the first bar “Mad at my momma she wont get me no cookies”. At that moment I kind of knew this is what I would be doing when I grew up. My dad is the reason behind of alot of things dont know where i’d be if that guy wasnt as cool as he is.”
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to be succesful. Alot of people dont understand when somoene comes from the struggle and they make it out that person literally used all of their pain, personal trauma, and bottled it up and used it for motivation to strive for success. Being a product of your enviroment you learn how to adapt to the things around you same scenario if you put an animal in a new home. You have to lose in order to even feel success. Success is only obtained by losing there is n way you can be succesful if you havent wilingly went through trial and error to get to your goal. Suffering molds you and builds you into the person you need to be in order to be succesful. Suffering is a valuable lesson that is often treated as despair. Suffering is the key to ultimate alignment, when you suffer you have no choice but to correct yourself and as humans we sometimes miscontrue suffering as depression when its honestly the universe enhancing you to become the best version of yourself. You have to grow through what you go through otherwise you’ll get stuck in it!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Of course the public version of me is the real me. I always come off as my most organic self in person. The social media antics can be different sometimes I can come off cocky and brag on things but I am an very humble guy. Never really was the type to come off as ignorant in person. And I keep saying in person because social medias perception nowadays can be altered I may come off an way unintentionally and not even know that. But everyone who knows me knows what kind of guy I am. Face card good everywhere! You know ? But I can say sometimes I do reserve myself in a sense I feel like only certain people and crowds should be exposed to certain things.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I feel like the work that I am doing right now is currently not praised enough, I think every artists feels that way in a sense though but no seriously I feel as if its not enough recognition on my end and in no way am I complaining cause all that fuel gets added to the fire but I geniunely feel like it’s not enough support behind all the work I do. I give my best in every aspect of my life I obtain satisfaction when I meet a goal that I set for myself. But it is not discouraging me or holding me back from releasing my art the show goes on as long as the crowd show up later I dont mind.
