We’re looking forward to introducing you to Teresa Undurraga. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Teresa, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
A normal day starts with waking up early to make breakfast for my kids, followed by the rush of getting everyone ready and off to school. After dropping the girls off, usually one minute before the school doors close, I head to teach a yoga class, which is where I find my peace.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Teresa Undurraga. I’m a full time yoga instructor. I teach everyday except Fridays which I use to run errands, go to doctor appointments and other mom things. I teach various styles of yoga from vinyasa to slow flow to deep stretch to buti yoga. It is fun! It is my happy place. I have been teaching for over 10 years. I teach at yoga studios, corporate offices, retreats, pop-ups and yoga teacher trainings! Check out yogabyteresa.com to see more.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I was always told I had to be the older, responsible one. I had to stay quiet and be polite. As I grew up, I found my voice and started to speak up. I wanted to be heard and stand up for myself, and that desire has never changed. Yoga also helped me find myself and my worth. The answers are always inside, you just have to find them.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would say, “Don’t stress so much. Find levity and freedom. Things will work themselves out. Just keep moving forward despite the obstacles. Walk with courage, let your spirit soar, and know that moving forward, you explore the boundless wonder of a life anew, a journey taken with a heart both strong and true.”
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, absolutely. What you see is what you get. Those who truly know me understand that I am outspoken, sassy, and loud. Don’t be afraid to let your inner sparkle shine; there’s enough light for all of us.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I believe I help my yoga students feel better about themselves. I hope they feel seen. I meet them where they are and celebrate them. I can only hope they leave feeling better than when they arrived-breathing, moving and feeling their own bodies.
