Story & Lesson Highlights with Venus Da Kid of Florissant

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Venus Da Kid. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Venus, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing my passion. That passion is music and I’m not letting go of it, I’ve done so time and time again and I always fall flat on my ass

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Venus Da Kid, a young up and coming rapper, songwriter and (still learning) producer. My current brand and focus is revolved around the idea of being yourself to the fullest extent no barriers, full, unfiltered and raw- Which is why I have given my brand the name [Be Yourself or Die.]

I am currently working on a project “Tito’s Pourin N Weed Smoking”. Two singles have been released exclusively on SoundCloud, Tito’s Pourin & Just4SumDough (Questlove, Ant the Atmosphere). It originally started out as a two track EP but as of recent I’ve had hella inspiration to expand and convert to a album

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My friendship with my brother UrdedBf. That’s my best friend in all seriousness if it wasn’t for him constantly being there, guiding me both emotionally and creatively. I truly don’t think I’d be who I am at this point and time.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
My brothers death, it continues to be that one wound that never seems to heal no matter how much time passes. It’s been 8 years and it continues to be the driving force behind my inner struggles. I’m healing with creativity, with what God blessed me with- Music. Tito Pourin’ N Weed Smoking was dedicated to him, his strive for music creation, and the effects his death had on my life

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My mother, she’s been my middle ground throughout my life and has always supported me in the lowest and highest points of my life

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Stop working a 9-5 and pursue my passion of music.. (I just quit)
